eyebrows and eyelashes

Eye Wonder Why

We pluck them, we shave them, we put make-up on them. We even express emotion with them. In the grand scheme of things, it would seem that eyebrows and eyelashes are just the makings of something aesthetically pleasing to look at on your face.
But it would also seem that there is something more to it than that. And while that reason may not be obvious at first, your eyebrows and eyelashes really are on your face for a reason: they help keep our eyes clean and healthy. Which, in turn, helps to maintain sight and keep your vision unobstructed.

Eyebrows

Eyebrows are fundamental to expressing nonverbal communication. They voicelessly articulate happiness, anger, sadness and surprise; but in accordance with eyesight, they are a vital component of keeping your vision clear.
When you work out and sweat, your eyebrows wick away the excess moisture from getting into your eyes. If you’re caught outside on a rainy day, the shape and arch of the brow ridge redirects the water away from your eyeballs.

Eyelashes

Not only do long, thick eyelashes look nice, they’re also a strong component in their role as a protective barrier for your eyeball. They let your eyelids know when they need to shut to deter foreign objects like sand or other small particles from making their way into your eye.
Eyelashes help to shield your eyes from the bright light of the sun. Keep in mind that wearing sunglasses is still encouraged, as eyelashes can only filter so much sunlight!
They also help to prevent irritation and even infection from getting – or spreading into – the eye, making your eyelashes kind of a big deal.

Important Features

The dynamic duo of eyebrows and eyelashes are more than just a way to make up a pretty face; they’re also a deceptively resilient pair that help to protect your eyes.
So be sure to take care of your eyebrows and eyelashes, because while they are just a small part of our body, they play a big role in the overall structure in the health of our eyes.
